Our academic affiliation with Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University (WAMS) means that WAMS students learn at Care New England from our talented care providers who have WAMS faculty appointments. Care New England has had a long-standing affiliation with the University of New England College of Medicine (UNECOM) and is proud to host UNECOM students at Kent Hospital, where they learn the breadth of clinical medicine. In addition, Care New England welcomes visiting students from across the nation, who are eager to benefit from the outstanding clinical educators affiliated with Care New England. Care New England is also home to some of the nation’s top residency and fellowship programs, where physicians obtain specialty and subspecialty training from leaders in their fields. Finally, Care New England is part of the consortium for Brown’s Clinical Psychology training programs, one of the largest and most sought-after psychology residency and fellowship programs in the country.

Clinical Psychology Pre-Doctoral Residents and Postdoctoral Fellows

This program provides training at the predoctoral and postdoctoral level to prepare future psychologists for careers relevant to clinical science, research, and practice. The programs are committed to developing psychologists who will apply scientific knowledge to human behavior in clinical practice and who will advance clinical science research. The Internship and Fellowships offer a variety of general research experiences encompassing Adult Psychology, Child Psychology, Health Psychology/Behavioral Medicine, and Neuropsychology.

Kent Hospital's Emergency Medicine Residency is a dually accredited ACGME and AOA program.

Family Medicine Residency

Kent Hospital's Family Medicine Residency is an accredited ACGME program with Osteopathic Recognition.

General Psychiatry Residency Program

Butler Hospital is the flagship teaching hospital in adult psychiatry at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. 

Internal Medicine Residency

Kent Hospital's Internal Medicine Residency is a dually accredited ACGME and AOA program.

Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island is one of the nation’s leading specialty hospitals for women and newborns.

Podiatry Residency

The Kent Hospital Podiatric Medicine and Surgical Residency, RRA Program is designed to accommodate the individual learning needs of the physician who has completed a program of study at a Council of Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) approved college of medicine.

Fellowship

Breast Disease Fellowship

The Breast Health Center offers a one-year fellowship in breast disease accredited by the Society of Surgical Oncologists (SSO).

Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship

Our ACGME accredited Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship provides a robust educational experience across a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings, with the goal of preparing our Fellows to be leaders in the field of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry.

Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship

The fellowship program in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery is a 36-month program for graduates of Obstetrics and Gynecology residencies, and a 24-month program for graduates of Urology residencies.

Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship

Forensic psychiatrists completing our fellowship become leaders in psychiatry and engage in the practice of public and private forensic psychiatry, forensically-informed clinical practice, and participate in research, education and public policy.

Gastroenterology Fellowship

Kent Hospital's Family Medicine Residency is an accredited ACGME program with Osteopathic Recognition.

Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship

The Brown University Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior’s Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship Training Program is an intensive clinical experience designed to equip future practitioners with all the skills needed for the practice of geriatric psychiatry and to train the future leaders in geriatric psychiatry. 

Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship

The program provides the fellows with broad exposure to gynecologic malignancies.

Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship

Women & Infants Hospital is a tertiary care center serving Southeast New England. There are 9,000+ deliveries per year. 

Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship

The neonatal fellowship includes intensive involvement in all clinical programs, including our Neonatal Follow-up Clinic. 

Obstetric & Consultative Medicine Fellowship

The medical care of the obstetric patient is a rewarding and stimulating field of internal medicine that is becoming increasingly important as women delay childbearing and more women with medical problems become pregnant. 

Pediatric Pathology Fellowship

This fellowship is a one to two-year, ACGME-accredited training program specializing in pathologic diagnosis of genetic and metabolic disease, infections, neoplasia and malformations, and pediatric forensic pathology and neuropathology.

Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship

The three-year program in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) provides broad clinical training in reproductive medicine, offers research exposure in reproductive biology both through Women & Infants Hospital.

Stuart C. Lauchlan Fellowship in Women’s Pathology (Gynecologic, Breast, and Cytopathology)

This fellowship is a one to two-year program that specializes in diagnostic gynecologic pathology, breast pathology, and gynecologic cytopathology, including dedicated time for research.  

Women's Health Fellowship

The Women’s Mental Health fellowship at Women & Infants Hospital, a Brown University teaching affiliate and a leading specialty hospital for women and newborns, is designed to offer focused clinical training in women’s mental health with a particular emphasis on perinatal psychiatry.
